Is there a video you’d like us to transcribe?

From time to time we stumble upon an interview with an intelligent fanatic, or a presentation that exhibits intelligent fanatic principles and we have it transcribed for members. Over the last year we’ve transcribed over 30 interviews and presentations. Transcriptions aren’t free. We estimate we’ve spent over $1,500 on these transcriptions, but we know they are worth it.

We would like you to tell us if you find a video presentation, interview, etc that you think would be worth transcribing for you and members.

Here is what you can do. Merely reply to this forum with one video. List the title of the video. Include a few sentences on why you think the video is important to you and other members.

We will need some audience participation. Other members who agree that particular video should be transcribed hit the like (heart) button. Those who disagree, don’t do anything.

Each transcription suggestion needs to get 10 likes or more from the community to be considered.

Keep in mind that 10+ likes does not guarantee we will transcribe the video. It just means we’ll consider it.

Take it From the Top: The Business of Business Success

Sir James Goldsmith was a flamboyant and opinionated British-French businessman, corporate raider, and financier whom Margaret Thatcher would say, “was one of the most powerful and dynamic personalities that this generation has seen.”

His story is more entertaining than most movies.

If anyone is interested at all in business or investing, they should watch this interview with Sir James Goldsmith.

2018 Lux Family Dinner Talk

Josh Wolfe is co-founder and managing partner of LUX (latin for light) Capital, a board member of the Santa Fe Institute and published author of AIDs immunopathology research.

In this video, Josh talks and provides examples about progress and technology, as well as humans that have “an inextinguishable flame” because of adversity, not in spite of it.

Five Common Mistakes Investors Make (w/ Michael Mauboussin)

I think this discussion with Mauboussin is quite good. Michael Mauboussin, director of research at BlueMountain Capital Management, discusses the five most common behavioral mistakes he sees investors make. He explains what scientific research can teach us about investor behavior, and discusses how the types of mistakes made can shift

Rare detailed interview of James Simons (one of the most successful hedge fund managers and least spoken about).

The interview covers his life and investment journey…an extremely talented mathematician who became a very successful fund manager. quite insightful.

We had this interview transcribed

I cam across this wonderful interview recently.

Anu Aga is the ex-Chairperson of Thermax Ltd, an Indian capital goods company with a market cap of $2 billion.

Like Katherine Graham she had gone through an excruciating period in her personal life when she lost both her husband and her son in a span of 14 months.
To deal with this tragedy she turned inward and internalized these lines, “Our stay on this earth short, our roles dispensable, and our impact inconsequential.”

This is a wonderful interview where she describes her approach to running a business and the importance she gives to values and culture.

A lot of what she says is mirrored in her daughter’s approach as well, who is the current Chairperson of Thermax.

This is such an awesome interview.
Everyone in the microcap space knows Paul Andreola. In this interview, he talks about his journey from begging (i.e. how he started investing) to founding smallcapdiscoveries and buying Namesilo Tech.
